Arctic adventure: This visualization illustrates the North Pole expeditions Swedish startup OceanSky Cruises wants to launch by 2023.

Historic journey: It won't be the first airship to visit the region. Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen took the Italian-made Norge on a North Pole adventure in 1926.

Airlander: OceanSky Cruises will likely partner with the UK's Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), creator of the Airlander airship.

On board: Life on board the modern HAV airship will be considerably more comfortable than on the 1926 expedition.

Start saving: Reservations are now open, but with a price tag of $232,845 for a two-person cabin OceanSky's polar trips aren't for all pockets.

Roomy: "We are not as space-constrained as in an airplane, so we are able to do interesting things with the cabin," says OceanSky Cruises' Carl-Oscar Lawaczeck.

Lounging: The 16 passengers will be lodged in eight spacious hotel-like double cabins. The airship will carry a crew of seven, including a chef.

Heritage: "The design is going to lean towards the heritage side of the project; it will evoke the era of airships," says Lawaczeck.

Touch down: Travelers will be able to touch down at the North Pole and get out to explore on land.

Expedition leader: The trips will be led by experienced polar explorer Robert Swan.
