Global project: Henderson wants there to be four Moon World Resorts across the world. The UAE, and specifically Dubai, has been pinpointed by the company as a "front runner" for the opening of the first Moon World Resort.

Recognizable brand: Co-founder Michael R. Henderson tells CNN Travel that the crux of the project is the idea that the moon is a "recognizable brand." Here's an artistic rendering of what a hotel room could look like at Moon World Resorts.

Lunar twist: According to Henderson, each Moon World Resort will have normal resort features -- such as a nightclub, as pictured here -- but many of these facilities will have a lunar-themed twist.

Technical feat: Moon World Resorts comes with "tremendous technical challenges," Henderson explains, but he and his co-founder Sandra G. Matthews are working with independent engineers and architects to make it happen. Pictured here: a rendering of what the spa could be like.

Next decade: Henderson hopes the first licensee will be secured by the end of 2022, and foresees the first Moon World resort opening five years later, in 2027.
