Solar power: The hotel's roof is covered with specially designed solar panels, which power the entire resort.

The accommodations: Each of the 15 overwater residences has a private pool and ocean access. The design encompasses large sliding doors on two sides, which allows for a cross-breeze.

Sea view: Architect Yuji Yamazaki, who designed the property, mixed luxury with natural elements. There are one and two-bedroom options. All guests at this all-inclusive resort have a personal butler who is available 24 hours a day.

Light it up: The solar panels generate enough electricity for the entire resort, including the restaurant.

Say ahhhh: ... that includes the spa, too.

White and blue: Yamazaki says that in the past decade of his work in the Maldives, the sea has risen more than scientists anticipated, hence his desire to work sustainably.

View from above: The architect points out that most people come to the island by air, so the solar panels are an eye-catching design element.

Reflecting on the moment: Yamazaki believes in designing around the natural elements. He sourced eco-conscious materials for the residences, including wood from sustainably managed forests in Canada, New Zealand and Indonesia.

Moonlight magic: Guests are encouraged to enjoy the sea, the sky and the stars.
