Davidsson navigated by the sun and the shadows in windswept ridges in the snow called sastrugi. At times visibility was so low, she described the experience as "like walking in a ping pong ball."

Davidsson's tent and sled set up on Antarctica during her 2016 trip to the South Pole. She says that the wind whipping the fabric of the tent was often the only sound she would hear in the isolated environment.

After reaching the South Pole, Davidsson was able to kite ski on the return journey (pictured). She made the journey back to the coast of Antarctica in 12 days -- less than a third of the time it took to ski there.

In 2014, Davidsson and her sister crossed the Greenland ice sheet from Narsaq in the south to Qaanaaq in the north. Using snow kites and ski sails, and pulling 120-kilogram sledges, they covered 2,300 kilometers in 36 days, becoming the first Swedes to make the journey.

In 2008, Davidsson paddled a sea kayak around the Swedish and Finnish coast. The 3,660-kilometer journey took three months, but she wasn't alone the entire time. Davidsson's friend Maija was paddling in the other direction from the border of Russia and Finland. The two exchanged a high five at the midway point before heading off to complete their respective routes.
