Happiest time to travel: If you want a pain-free journey with maximum smiley-face levels, choose a Tuesday morning in October or November. (Pictured: Cardiff Airport).

Unhappiest time to travel: Avoid July weekends if you value your sanity, and don't venture into baggage reclaim between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. (Pictured: Kevflavik Airport).

Passenger journey: Passengers are at their happiest after clearing security (84.6% satisfaction levels), but washrooms (74.4%) and baggage reclaim (69.9%) dampen the spirit. (Pictured: London Southend Airport).
