
The Grand Hotel on Michigan's Mackinac Island opened in 1887. It was the result of a partnership between two railroads and a steamship navigation company.

One of the first hotels built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Banff Springs hotel opened in 1888 in Banff, Alberta.

Le Château Frontenac in Québec City was another Canadian Pacific Railway project. The hotel opened in 1893 and has become a symbol of the city.

Henry Morrison Flagler extended the Florida East Coast Railroad to what is now West Palm Beach in the 1890s. The Breakers is one of the hotels he built to accommodate the tourism influx.

Perched on the rim of Arizona's Grand Canyon, El Tovar opened its doors in 1905. The hotel was operated by the Fred Harvey Co. in conjunction with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.

Tracks to Grand Central Station are located under the InterContinental New York Barclay. The hotel was built on "air rights" offered by the New York Central Realty and Terminal Corporation.

The Greenbrier hotel opened in 1913, several years after the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway purchased the resort property.
