The private jet industry has come out of the pandemic mostly unscathed, unlike its commercial counterpart. In fact, some private aviation companies have seen a boost in demand. Manufacturers are designing new concepts to satisfy elite travelers, like Lufthansa Technik's "Explorer" cabin with a balcony, shown in the rendering above.

The design converts an Airbus A330, a passenger plane capable of carrying more than 250 people, into a spacious "flying hotel" equipped with three double bedrooms, a gym and a garage.

The sundeck, which opens via a cargo door when the plane has landed, is designed to imitate the experience of a superyacht. Lufthansa Technik wants to attract customers that have limited time but want to see as much as possible when traveling. This way guests could do a round-the-world trip in two weeks, stopping off at scenic runways.

The cabin's ceiling features a projection system that can cover the interior walls and ceilings with whatever scenery those on board desire, including an underwater world.

If the passengers fancy more of a party vibe, the dining table and chairs can be removed to make way for a dance floor and images of disco lights will be played overhead. Lufthansa Technik unveiled the full cabin concept in November at the Dubai Airshow 2021, after revealing a taster during the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

The Airshow was the first big gathering of the whole aviation industry since Covid-19 and the mood was one of optimism as commercial airlines also showed signs of gradually bouncing back. Visitors were able to experience the latest private jet designs, such as the Airbus ACJ320neo corporate jet pictured here.

The helicopter is kitted out with a fully vegan interior, on the request of Daniela who wanted it to be in keeping with her ethical values. Her Giulia and Romeo fashion line uses no animal products. Airbus used Ultraleather, a synthetic material, to mimic the real deal.

During the Airshow, Dubai-based real estate group FIVE, which runs a chain of luxury hotels in the city, announced it would be bringing its hospitality to new heights with a private jet designed to ferry guests around the world. The plane will be kitted out for parties with disco lights, as shown in this rendering, and there will be an option to bring a DJ on board.
