Tourism today: Spain's Balearic Islands, usually a summer party hotspot, have had a far quieter summer this year.

Different experience: The super clubs in Ibiza are closed, but some tourists have still made their way to Spain and other European party destinations.

Shortlived summer: In July, visitors flocked from Britain to the Balearics, included Mallorca, pictured, as travel corridors were established, but they were quickly closed when cases began rising in Spain.

Shuttered bars: Many bars never opened, with owners deciding the changed circumstances made doing so impossible.

Tough times: Officials in the Balearics are concerned about what the winter might look like, given it's been a tough summer. Pictured here: a banner in a closed bar on Punta Ballena street in Mallorca, Spain in July.

Unimaginable scene: It'll be some time until we see crowds dancing like this at an Ibiza nightclub, in a pre-Covid era.
