Fried tarantulas: A delicacy in Cambodia, fried tarantulas can sell for up to $1 each. Want to give them a try? A cooking school in Siem Reap teaches tourists how to fry their own.

The marinade: Before hitting the wok, the spiders are soaked in a milky-looking mixture of sugar, salt, light seasoning, chicken power and water.

Fry time: Once the spiders are well soaked, they're placed in the wok's boiling oil for no more than 45 seconds, says cooking teacher Ouch Ratana.

Crispy outside, soft inside: Cambodian guide Yin Lucky takes a bite. He says the body is the best part.

Silkworms: Visitors to Ouch's cooking school also learn to cook silkworms and grasshoppers.

A delicious snack: "They are delicious -- a perfect snack with some cold beer or rice wine," says cooking instructor Ouch, seen here preparing the marinade.

No frills: The basic kitchen where tourists learn to cook Tarantulas.

Fresh out of the wok: "Some days I can sell dozens," says Ouch. "But they are very expensive so people only eat them for a special event, maybe a birthday party and everyone has one or two."

Worse than a tarantula? Guide Yin gets up close with a dead scorpion.
