Museum Island: Called Museumsinsel in German, this island in the Spree River holds five museums. In this photo, you can see the Old National Gallery (Alte Nationalgalerie) in the foreground and the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) in the background.

Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe: Opened in 2005, this memorial uses thousands of concrete slabs to symbolize one of humanity's darkest hours.

Fernsehturm (TV tower): This aerial, wide-angle view of the skyline shows the famous TV tower at Alexanderplatz public square. The tower's viewing platform gives visitors a 360-degree look at Berlin.

Badeschiff: Berliners are serious about their swimming. You can join them during warm-weather months at Badeschiff, where the pool sits in a barge in the Spree River.

Computerspielemuseum: If you love video games, head to the Computer Games Museum. Fans of old-school games will be particularly delighted.

Gendarmenmarkt: Gendarmenmarkt square is a central hub in Berlin for locals and tourists. In the photo is Konzerthaus Berlin (concert hall), one of many impressive buildings along the square.
