Autonomous Travel Suite: A hybrid design which combines a hotel room with a self-driving vehicle, the Autonomous Travel Suite (ATS) comes in a range of sizes designed to accommodate solo travelers, couples or families. You can even bring your cat.

The concept: Conceived by Toronto-based Steve Lee at Aprilli Design Studio, the ATS won this year's Radical Innovation Award -- a design competition for the hospitality industry.

How it works: The ATS will be controlled by an app that allows travelers to choose their departure time and plot their route.

Autonomous Hotel —
How it works, continued: In Lee's vision, the ATS will be operated by a chain of "Autonomous Hotels" that provide support services including vehicle maintenance, water provision and waste removal.

Joining the party: Travelers can choose to dock their ATS at a static "parent suite" where they can stay overnight.

Amenities: The Autonomous Hotels will offer shared services such as swimming pools, gyms, restaurants and meeting rooms.

The vision: Lee believes that the ATS will offer a good alternative to domestic plane travel. By offering a door-to-door service, it will do away with long lines, multiple transfers and hassle.
