<strong>Make it meaningful: </strong>"The most important thing about getting a tattoo is to ensure that it is meaningful to you in some way," says Tonello. "We all know that as life goes on, our likes and dislikes change but a tattoo that was well done, that had a meaning for you at the time you got it is rarely regretted by people."

<strong>Quiz them on cleanliness: </strong>"It's important to identify a studio following the industry standards of hygiene and cleanliness," says Tonello. "What many don't realize is that Thailand actually has a strict licensing process for tattoo studios, which involves many checks and a mountain of paperwork. Unfortunately, the majority of studios haven't undergone this process."
