
The world's best airlines: AirlineRatings.com has released its annual round-up of the best airlines across the globe. At No. 1 this year is Air New Zealand.

2. Qatar Airways: Last year's winner was edged out into the number two slot. Qatar Airways also won awards for Best Business Class, Best Catering and Excellence in Long Haul travel: Middle East.

3. Etihad Airways: Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways is number 3 on AirlineRatings.com's 2023 list.

4. Korean Air: Korean Air is at number four and also won the award for Excellence in Long Haul Travel - North Asia. "These awards are important for passengers as they are a guide to which airlines are performing well and which airlines are innovating," AirlineRatings.com's editor-in-chief's Geoffrey Thomas told CNN Travel.

5. Singapore Airlines: Singapore Airlines is number five on this year's list and also won the Best First Class award, and the Excellence in Long Haul Travel - Southeast Asia award.

6. Qantas: Australian airline Qantas is number six on the list and also won Best Lounges.

7. Virgin Australia/Virgin Atlantic: Virgin Australia/Virgin Atlantic is number seven on the list and also won Best Cabin Crew.

8. EVA Air: Thomas said "most airlines suffered declines in passenger approvals" this year. Number eight on AirlineRatings.com's list is EVA Air.

9. Cathay Pacific: Cathay Pacific is number nine on AirlineRatings.com's list.

10: Emirates: Rounding out AirlineRatings.com's list is Emirates, which also won Best-In-Flight Entertainment and Best Premium Economy.
