
1. Aegean Islands, Greece. Skip the crowds when you cruise the Greek islands in spring. Celestyal Cruises is the only cruise company based in Greece.

2. Barcelona, Spain. The sacred commission of architect Antoni Gaudí. Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882, and it may be completed by 2030.

3. Cancun, Mexico. Once you've got your fill of the beach, there's birdwatching (see if you can spot a macaw) and other eco-activities and cultural tours south of the city along the Riviera Maya.

4. Grand Canyon, Arizona. Celebrate the Centennial of this national park by rafting through it with award-winning adventure tour operator OARS, which begins six-day Colorado River whitewater rafting trips April 7.

5. Keukenhof Gardens, Holland. Marvel at the millions of tulips at this showcase for the the Dutch floral industry as the gardens open for the season on March 21. Forty gardeners work all year planting seven million bulbs, often in layers, so that fresh blooms will appear throughout the show's eight-week run.

6. Lake Tahoe, California. With snowfall topping 620 inches already this ski season, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows is staying open later for spring skiing. Take Squaw Valley's Aerial Tram to High Camp at 8,200 feet where the giant High Camp hot tub will open again in spring.

7. Las Vegas, Nevada. It's the ideal time for a last stroll along The Strip in spring, when temperatures stay well below summer's 100 F (38 C.)

8. Ledbury, United Kingdom. Hunt for Easter eggs at Eastnor Castle and Arboretum, which was founded by the first Earl Somers and sustained by the Hervey-Bathurst family for the past 200 years.

9. Malta. Spring is the perfect time to explore lovely churches, forts and historic sites of Malta before charter loads of beach-goers arrive. (Make sure to try the figolli, a special Easter dessert.)

10. Marrakech, Morocco. Marrakech is trending again, with the recent opening of L'Hôtel Marrakech by British designer Jasper Conran and the MadJazz Marrakech music festival expected back in May. Note that some businesses curtail hours and services during the Muslim fasting period of Ramadan, between May 5 and June 4 this year.

11. Mendoza to Patagonia, Argentina. Pluck the last of the grapes in Mendoza and mountain bike, kayak or horseback ride in Patagonia this spring. Malbec grapes, like these at a vineyard in Lujan de Cuyo, thrives in the distinct climate and soil at the foot of the snow-capped Andes.

12. Munich, Germany. The Englischer Garten is a favorite Munich park designed by Benjamin Thompson in the British style 225 years ago. Fun fact: There's a place to surf (really) in this urban oasis larger than New York's Central Park.

13. Naoshima Island, Japan. Naoshima Island has works of art strategically placed throughout the landscape, such as this garden with sculpture by French artist Niki de Saint Phalle. It can be seen outside Benesse House, about 2.4 miles from Miyanoura Port.

14. Orlando, Florida. Enjoy the 26th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, which runs from March 6 through June 3 at Walt Disney World and features dozens of fan-favorite Disney-themed topiaries. Epcot standard Spaceship Earth (shown here) also waits to be explored.

15. Penang, Malaysia. The sun rises over the Penang bridge in Penang island, where visitors can explore the Malaysian rainforest, which is home 20% of the world's animal species and uncountable plant species.

16. Puerto Rico. After a painful recovery from 2017's Hurricane Maria, the island is welcoming much-needed tourists to enjoy this special slice of the Caribbean.

17. Queenstown, New Zealand. From March to May, which is autumn in the southern hemisphere, the local cottonwoods turn yellow and the hills are ablaze with color.

18. St. Louis Zoo, Missouri. 'Tis the season for babies at this world-renowned zoo. Look for baby Speke's Gazelles, two Addaxes, a Soemmerring's Gazelle and, a Grevy's Zebra foal born New Year's Eve,.

19. Washington, DC. The Jefferson Memorial is seen through cherry blossoms at peak bloom last year. The annual National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates spring with a nod to Japanese culture. March 20 -- April 14 is the predicted blooming period around the Tidal Basin.
