GALLERY: Maisie Wilen's latest collection was inspired by virtual worlds and Mattel's franchise "Monster High."

LA-based designer Maisie Schloss began her label with a grant from Kanye West in 2019.

The label is known for chic cyber-inspired partywear.

Schloss often employs bold, digitally designed prints and favors catsuit silhouettes.

The latest collection for NYFW saw models as larger-than-life holograms in lieu of a traditional runway show.

In addition to the in-person show, Yahoo designed a desktop and mobile experience to view the collection at home in augmented reality (AR).

Schloss said: "We're no longer tethered to things that we can show during a traditional fashion show."

Though digital presentations have become standard for fashion shows during the pandemic, Schloss is embracing a hybrid approach to create different experiences in person and virtually.

For this collection, she wanted it "to serve as a study of the often blurry line between reality and fantasy," she said. "What makes something that is real feel unreal?"
