
Abigail Crutchfield is Vice President of Washington Programming & Special Events Programming for CNN.
In this role, Crutchfield oversees all of the network’s D.C. based programming and is also responsible for programming and producing the network’s coverage of some of the most-watched days on CNN including election coverage, presidential addresses, coverage of former President Trump’s arrests & arraignments, the January 6th hearings, CNN’s Fourth in America, and the coronation of King Charles III.
Most recently, Crutchfield led pivotal special events programming for some of the most-watched days on CNN including CNN’s Presidential Debate, Election Night in America, The Inauguration of President Trump, and the historic airing of “Good Night and Good Luck.” Abigail also played a leading role in the development team for The Source with Kaitlan Collins and The Arena with Kasie Hunt Collins and also oversees Dana Bash’s quarterly longform interview series Being.
Previously, Crutchfield was Executive Producer of State of the Union with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash & Executive Producer of Special Events Programming. In this role Crutchfield led CNN’s premier Sunday public affairs program producing interviews with leading politicians, presidential candidates, world leaders, and other newsmakers. Under her watch the program was nominated for numerous Emmys and was a leading driver of the political conversation. Crutchfield has produced interviews with leaders around the world including President Joe Biden, three U.K. Prime Ministers, Polish President Duda, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Crutchfield has played a leading role in CNN’s major events for years including numerous presidential primary debates, town halls, and breaking news coverage on January 6th.
Prior to joining CNN, Crutchfield worked on Katie Couric’s daytime talk show Katie and spent her early career in international book scouting. She danced professionally with the New York City Ballet and earned her B.A. cum laude from Harvard College.
