'Purple People Eater' Corvette —
Back in its day, this 1959 Corvette won the SCCA National Championship in its class. By 1974 it had fallen into obscurity when it was purchased at a swap meet for $800. With some research, the new owners uncovered the car's race history and restored its purple paint job. The car will be sold at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale auction in January where it could go for over $1 million.

Janis Joplin's Porsche —
This 1964 Porsche 356 was ivory colored when singer Janis Joplin bought it used in 1968. She paid her roadie Dave Richards to paint the car. Richards's artwork illustrates "The History of the Universe" and includes images of Joplin's band, Big Brother and the Holding Company. This car was in the parking lot of the Landmark Motor Hotel in Hollywood when Joplin died there in the fall of 1970. It was subsequently returned to her family and later displayed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
