Old Fashioned —
Every gentleman should know how to dress and how to drink, says Derrick Turner, head bartender at Harding's, an upscale restaurant and bar in New York City.

Manhattan —
The Manhattan is a bit more complicated than an Old Fashioned, but it's an elegant, classic drink perfect for dinner with your father, says Turner.

Tom Collins —
The Tom Collins is "the best drink you can make that's most versatile in my opinion," says Turner.

Vesper —
The Vesper is an easy drink to make, and handy to know, says Turner. It's "the yang to the yin of the Manhattan," he says. "Keeping this cocktail in your back pocket is always a sure way to impress your guest."

Cosmopolitan: A 'cute' don't —
The Cosmo became popular as "Sex and the City" created countless Carrie Bradshaw wannabes, says Turner. And while the cocktail may have been stylish for a time, it's now a don't.

Long Island Iced Tea: A don't —
The Long Island Iced Tea is another don't, says Turner.

White Russian: A don't —
The White Russian is a don't if you keep ordering them.
