Video that tracks your every move —
Cameras aren't just for deterring shoplifting. Video analytics can tell a retailer the age and gender of shoppers, what they touch and where they go in a store.

Your mobile device —
Retailers can track customers through their mobile devices.

Intelligent lighting —
Companies are selling LED lights that can connect with a phone's camera to give almost the exact positions of a customer throughout a store, according to Josh Marti, CEO and co-founder of Point Inside.

iBeacons/blue tooth —
Retailers can place small pieces of hardware called iBeacons throughout a store to track shoppers' movements. The devices send out messages to sensors inside your mobile phone and detail its location. (These sensors, which are in nearly every phone, help with games and make a screen switch from normal mode to landscape.)

With their app —
Downloading a retailer's app can bring exclusive sales and optimize your shopping time, but that convenience tends to compromise some privacy.
