In the US Senate race, Republican Sen. Tom Cotton won renomination and will enter November’s midterms as the heavy favorite for a third six-year term. He will face Hallie Shoffner on the Democratic side, a sixth-generation farmer who recently closed her family’s farm due to economic pressures.
In the governor’s race, Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders ran unopposed in the Republican primary and will be heavily favored in the general election against Democratic State Sen. Fred Love.
Meanwhile, Arkansas’ US House races offer another indication of the state’s political continuity. All four Republican incumbents are seeking reelection and are expected to easily win in November.
