A crowded field is competing to replace Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner, who died in March just weeks after coming to Washington. In this heavily Democratic district, the group of candidates features acting Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee, former Houston City Council Member Amanda Edwards, and state Rep. Jolanda Jones. If no candidate wins a majority, the top two will advance to a runoff.
