Special election result: Tennessee House 7
Republican Matt Van Epps, an Army veteran who served as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of General Services, defeated Democratic Nashville-area state Rep. Aftyn Behn in a special election to replace former GOP Rep. Mark Green. President Donald Trump won Tennessee’s 7th congressional district, which includes rural areas and parts of Nashville, by 22 points in 2024, so despite the Republican victory the outcome continued a trend of Democratic overperformance in 2025 special elections.
Special election results: Texas House 18
Acting Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee and former Houston City Council Member Amanda Edwards will advance to a runoff in this heavily Democratic district to replace Democratic Rep. Sylvester Turner. Turner died in March just weeks after coming to Washington.

Special elections held earlier this year in Arizona, Virginia and Florida filled critical seats in the narrowly divided House of Representatives.
