Cars were set on fire, parts of a major freeway were shut down, and flashbangs and tear gas were used to disperse crowds.  All of downtown LA has been declared an unlawful assembly area. President Trump called up the National Guard to protect federal personnel and property, the first time a president has done this without a state's request or consent in about 60 years. California Governor Gavin Newsome says the state will sue the government over the National Guard deployment.
