President Donald Trump met with advisers in the White House Situation Room today for roughly two hours. That's according to a person familiar with the matter. Despite Trump's earlier suggestion that the meeting would end with a quote, "final determination," it remains unclear whether he planned to sign off on the agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and start nuclear talks. The tentative deal with Iran would also extend the current ceasefire for 60 days. In a lengthy Truth Social post earlier, Trump laid out the parameters of an agreement: Iran must agree to never having a nuclear weapon, the Strait of Hormuz be opened immediately without any tolls, and mines must be destroyed. In turn, Trump says the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports would be lifted and that Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium would be, quote, "unearthed" and destroyed in coordination with Tehran. Our understanding is that the finer details of Iran's nuclear program are going to be left to future negotiations. You know, this memorandum is going to start a clock of 60 days where the two sides are supposed to really come to some kind of agreement on trying to curb Iran's nuclear ambitions. And two, the president suggesting here that Iran has submitted to having the U.S. come in, which would be a very dangerous mission, and destroy the material. What we have heard from Iran is that in fact the details of their nuclear program are not under discussion.

A spokesperson for Iran's foreign ministry says a memorandum of understanding between the two nations hasn't been finalized.

'On Capitol Hill, former attorney general Pam Bondi defended the Justice Department's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files in a closed-door interview. But...

In her words and remarks is that it was Todd Blanche, the current acting AG, that was leading the Epstein investigation. And quite frankly, all of the mistakes that we saw, the redactions, not protecting survivors, she continues to push that back onto the acting AG Todd Blanche, who by the way, was Donald Trump's former personal lawyer.

'That's Congressman Robert Garcia, the top Democrat of the House Oversight Committee. Bondi disputed Garcia's claims on her social media after she left the Capitol without speaking to reporters, saying, quote, "not true." Republicans on the panel also disputed that Bondi was seeking to blame Blanche, according to one person familiar with the discussions. CNN has reached out to Blanche for comment. Still, some Republicans and many Democrats have insisted the DOJ has slow-walked the release of the Epstein files or withheld other details altogether.

'Here's the latest in the nation's redistricting battle. In Louisiana, lawmakers passed a new congressional map designed to pick up a Republican seat. It also eliminates one of the state's two majority Black House districts represented by Democrats. Republican Governor Jeff Landry is expected to sign the new map into law. Some Republicans said the new map better protects House Speaker Mike Johnson from facing a difficult re-election. This comes after the Supreme Court struck down the state's current map as an illegal racial gerrymander, weakening the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act.

'An ICE agent charged in a shooting during the immigration crackdown in Minneapolis has been arrested in Texas. That's according to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office. Christian Castro was charged with four counts of second-degree assault and one count of falsely reporting a crime. CNN is working to determine whether Castro has an attorney and has reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for comment. Back in January, Julio Sosa-Celis was shot in the leg through the front door of a home in Minneapolis. He and his cousin were facing federal charges after DHS said they attacked an agent, prompting Castro to fire a defensive shot. But the DOJ dropped the charges in February. And ICE said two of its agents who lied about the incident under oath were placed on administrative leave. Minnesota's attorney general said he was, quote, "pleased" to hear Castro has been arrested.

Coming up, a setback in one of Trump's controversial DC remodeling plans.

'A federal judge says it's illegal to add President Trump's name to the Kennedy Center and has blocked plans to close the center temporarily for renovations. The judge wrote that Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, and only Congress can change it. He ruled officials must remove any signs from the Kennedy Center that include Trump's names and update its website to remove all references to the name Trump-Kennedy Center or the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts within two weeks. He said the center was permanently blocked from naming the center for any person other than former President John F. Kennedy. He also noted the center can decide later to renovate the building after its board more fully considers the impact it would have on its requirements to always maintain some programming. CNN has reached out to the Kennedy Center and White House for comment.
