Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says President Donald Trump has agreed to consider reducing the number of federal agents in the state. That's after a call between the two leaders earlier today, where Trump struck a notable shift in tone. On Truth Social, Trump said he and Walz seemed to be on a similar wavelength and that Walz called with the request to work together. Trump says he also facilitated a call between Walls and border czar Tom Homan, who the president is sending to Minnesota after a man's deadly encounter with federal agents. On Saturday, ICU nurse Alex Pretti was shot and killed, drawing crowds of angry protesters. A federal law enforcement source says investigators have interviewed the agents involved, and a senior Department of Homeland Security official says they're reviewing the agents' footage. Three sources say top border patrol official Greg Bovino and some of his agents are expected to leave Minneapolis tomorrow. CNN has reached out to DHS for comment. Today, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt blamed Democratic leaders in Minnesota for the latest shooting.

As President Trump said yesterday, the administration is reviewing everything with respect to the shooting and we will let that investigation play out. But let's be clear about the circumstances which led to that moment on Saturday. This tragedy occurred as a result of a deliberate and hostile resistance by Democrat leaders in Minnesota.

Some Senate Democrats are threatening to block a government spending bill after another fatal shooting involving federal agents over the weekend. The Senate faces a Friday midnight deadline. Here's CNN's Manu Raju.

We expected last week that this bill was going to pass. Pretty easily. But in the aftermath of this shooting, Chuck Schumer, the Senate Democratic leader, said there needs to be changes to ICE, otherwise Democrats will deny the votes in the Senate this week on this bill. And they have the leverage. Of course, in the 5347 Senate, you need to have at least seven Democrats to vote to advance this package. Those votes are not there. Even those senators who typically would vote to avoid a government shutdown are signaling that they will vote against it. And their calling for this funding package on the security to be stripped out of the larger bill but to do that you need a full agreement of all 100 senators and you also need an agreement with the White House on what the policy different changes would be.

We have details on the aftermath of a massive winter storm that dumped snow and ice across parts of the eastern half of the U.S. Over 200 million people are under cold alerts for frigid temperatures that will linger for days and are expected to set records in the south and east. More than 15 storm and cold related deaths were reported across nine states. Multiple deaths have been attributed to hypothermia. Nearly 700,000 customers in those areas were still in the dark as of Monday afternoon, according to poweroutage.us. And some large school districts will stay closed tomorrow due to the weather.

Officials at Bangor International Airport in Maine now say all six people aboard a private jet that crashed last night are presumed dead. Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, which happened around 7.45 p.m. local time Sunday. Flight tracking data shows the plane took off in Houston and by the time it got to the airport in Maine, there was light snow causing very low visibility. The FAA's preliminary report says the plane rolled onto its back and burst into flames. But the cause of the crash wasn't known. The airport says it'll remain closed until at least noon eastern tomorrow.

'State-run channel VTV Venezuela broadcasted Rodriguez speaking to a group of oil workers yesterday. She's been walking a tightrope trying to unite her fractured country while managing U.S. pressure over oil, alliances with U. S. adversaries and stable governance in Venezuela, all without provoking Washington. Trump has backed down on his earlier claim that the U. S. was, quote, "going to run" Venezuela and said he thinks they're getting along. CNN has contacted the White House for comment on Rodriguez's latest statement.
