This gambit that was done last night is a joke.

House Speaker Mike Johnson rejected a bill that the Senate passed overnight to partially fund the Department of Homeland Security and says President Donald Trump supports his reasoning.
Mike Johnson
00:00:20
The reason that we can't accept this ridiculousness is because we're not going to risk not funding the agencies that keep the American people safe.

House Republicans say they will instead pass their own bill that fully funds DHS for eight weeks. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer warned that bill would be, quote, "dead on arrival." The Senate bill didn't include immigration reforms Democrats pushed for, nor funding for ICE. Despite the shutdown, Trump has ordered DHS to pay TSA employees, but has remained vague about where the money will come from. Many TSA workers struggle to pay for food, housing, gas, child care, and other necessities. DHS says workers should start getting paid as early as Monday.

Hackers connected to the Iranian government accessed FBI Director Kash Patel's personal email. That's what a person familiar with the breach confirmed to CNN. Here's CNN's Evan Perez.
Evan Perez
00:01:22
Well, I mean, these are private messages from his personal accounts dating back from 2011 to 2022. And what we were seeing is pictures the Iranians appear to be trolling Kash Patel and the U.S. government because after the U.S. government, after the FBI put out a confirmation of what happened, they have since posted additional photographs of Kash Patel appears to be smoking cigars. They also posted pictures from his emails that include his resume
Marco Rubio

We're going to destroy their factories that make missiles and rockets and drones. We're gonna destroy their Navy, we're gonna destroy their Air Force and we are going to significantly destroy their missile launchers and we can achieve them without any ground troops.
Marco Rubio
00:02:06
'That's Secretary of State Marco Rubio speaking to reporters before leaving France for a high-stakes meeting with G7 foreign ministers wrapped up. But he said comes as sources tell CNN more than 1,000 U.S. soldiers are expected to deploy to the Middle East in the coming days. In his first overseas trip since the U. S.-Israeli war with Iran began, Rubio told reporters that U.S. allies in Europe and Asia should support efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz once the war ends. He also said weapons from Ukraine should be diverted to the middle east, but the US hasn't done so yet. Also, Rubio said Iran hasn't responded to Washington's 15-point list of demands to end the war, but it could come at any moment. Meantime, uncertainty about how long the war with Iran will be and nerves about energy inflation continue to weigh on Wall Street. U.S. stocks slid with a Dow falling 793 points to close in correction today. This after the NASDAQ closed in correction territory Thursday, down more than 10 percent from its record high in October.

'Tiger Woods is in jail after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. That's according to the Martin County Sheriff in Florida. He told reporters Woods was driving a Land Rover and clipped the pickup truck, pulling a small trailer. The collision caused Woods's Land Rover to roll onto its side. The sheriff said Woods showed signs of impairment when police arrived on scene, but was not under the influenced of alcohol. Nobody was injured. This wouldn't be the first accident the 82-time PGA winner has been involved in. The last one happened in 2021 in Los Angeles. CNN has reached out to Woods's representative for comment.

Up next, a historic moon mission in the making.
Ifeoma Dike
00:03:46
Four people will soon step aboard a spacecraft for the first human moon mission in more than half a century. They usher in an era of diversity for deep space exploration.
Christina Koch
00:03:55
I am so grateful to those that paved the way for me to be here and for all of us to be here and it's an honor to potentially inspire the explorers of the future.
Ifeoma Dike
00:04:06
'That's Christina Koch who will become the first woman to fly to the moon. She'll be joined by NASA's Reid Wiseman, a single father who will serve as commander of the mission, Victor Glover, who will be the first black person to travel to deep space, and Canadian Jeremy Hansen, the first non-NASA astronaut to join a lunar mission. Next Wednesday is the targeted day they'll embark on a 10-day journey around the moon, and they may see features on the lunar surface that no other human has seen with the naked eye. But the mission poses some risks, including exposure to dangerous levels of radiation, loss of contact with mission control, and unexpected communication blackouts.
