In a rapid offensive down Yemen’s Red Sea coast, Houthi forces seized new ground directly overlooking the Bab al-Mandeb. Then, they reportedly crossed onto Mayyun Island - also known as Perim - which sits in the middle of the strait. Now, Houthi conventional weapons - artillery and rockets - can strike at ships, not just longer-range drones and missiles.
And another contingency plan for the global oil market has come under serious threat. On Friday, Saudi Arabia announced that it had shuttered its East-West Pipeline, blaming drone attacks from inside Iraq that it said had caused “injuries and some damage.”
