President Donald Trump on Wednesday attended the dignified transfer of four US soldiers who were recently killed in the war with Iran.

1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25; Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19; and Sgt. Angel S. Rampersad, 28, were killed as part of an Iranian attack on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Sgt. Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, was killed during a controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone in Iraq, the Defense Department said.

Trump met privately with the soldiers’ families before the transfer, and he invited Feehan’s relatives to fly with him aboard Air Force One as they headed to Georgia.

Reflecting on the dignified transfer hours later, Trump honored the fallen and told a crowd in Marietta, Georgia, that it was “very tough to watch, to be honest with you, very tough. I think it’s the toughest thing I do.”

The United States and Iran have ramped up attacks in the past few weeks. As of Thursday afternoon, 18 US troops have been killed in connection with the war in Iran.

Here are some of the stories that made headlines over the past week, as well as some photos that caught our eye.
