Parents of 16-year-old prisoner held in Cuba plead with Secretary Rubio and Pope Leo for his release
As Secretary of State Marco Rubio meets with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican, the family of a 16-year-old being held prisoner in Cuba is sending them an urgent plea for help. Jonathan Muir Burgos is currently in a maximum security adult prison accused of protesting the Cuban government. Jonathan’s father, Elier Muir, claims his son is being persecuted for his faith and warns his son is sick and in danger.
CNN reached out to the Cuban Embassy in Washington, DC and received no response. The US State Department declined to a request for comment.
