The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks are playing for pro football’s ultimate prize — the Lombardi Trophy — in Super Bowl LX.
The Seahawks (16-3) are the pregame favorite, led by the NFL’s No. 1 scoring defense, veteran quarterback Sam Darnold and explosive wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. They were the top seed in the NFC, and they showed why in the playoffs as they smashed the San Francisco 49ers and then won a thriller against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Patriots (17-3) are powered by second-year quarterback Drake Maye — who finished second in MVP voting this year — and a top-5 scoring defense of their own. They were the AFC’s second seed in the playoffs, and they smothered the Los Angeles Chargers and the Houston Texans before winning a snowy battle against the Denver Broncos.
These two teams faced off in the Super Bowl 11 years ago, and it gave us one of the most dramatic endings in league history: a last-minute interception by the Patriots’ Malcolm Butler when the Seahawks were just one yard away from the potential game-winning touchdown.
