Former Reagan and Trump economic adviser argues an independent Fed hasn't worked

Arthur Laffer, who served as economic adviser to President Reagan and to then-candidate Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign, argues against an independent Federal Reserve. Laffer's view contrasts with that of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who has long treasured and promoted the Fed’s independence, which he sees as tantamount to its mission to help American households live better lives.
