Minneapolis is in mourning after a shooter opened fire through the stained-glass windows of a church on Wednesday.
Two children, ages 8 and 10, were killed in the attack, which took place as students were attending a Mass to mark the first week of class at the Annunciation Catholic School. Eighteen other people were wounded, including 15 children and three adults.
The shooter, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman. Westman shared a “manifesto” on social media that is being investigated, police said. The shooter graduated from the school in 2017. Investigators believe Westman likely intended to carry out yesterday’s attack from inside the church.
This was the 44th school shooting in the United States this year, according to a CNN analysis.
