An intensive manhunt is underway after more than a dozen people were killed in a shooting rampage Wednesday night at a bowling alley and a restaurant in Lewiston, Maine, authorities said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Robert Card, 40, accusing him of murder, Maine State Police Col. Williams Ross said during a Thursday news conference. Card should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

The attack appears to be the deadliest mass shooting of 2023, adding to a grim docket of 565 such incidents reported this year across the United States, with four or more shot excluding the shooter, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
