The LSU Tigers, for the first time in school history, are national champions in women's college basketball.

The Tigers defeated Iowa 102-85 Sunday in Dallas, setting a new record for most points scored by a team in a women's championship game.

Jasmine Carson led LSU with 22 points, 21 of which came in an explosive first half that was a Final Four record for most points in a half by one team (59). Alexis Morris added 21 points and nine assists for the Tigers (34-2), and LaDahzia Williams had 20 points. Angel Reese, who was named the NCAA Tournament's most outstanding player, finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

This is LSU's first national title, but it is the sixth for head coach Kim Mulkey. Mulkey also won one as a player at Louisiana Tech, one as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech and three in her previous job as the head coach of Baylor.

Iowa (31-7) was led once again by its transcendent superstar, Caitlin Clark, who finished the game with 30 points and eight assists. Clark, who made eight of 19 3-pointers, broke Sheryl Swoopes' record for most points scored in one NCAA Tournament.
