President Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail Thursday night, holding his first rally since special counsel Robert Mueller submitted his long-awaited report on Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Attorney General William Barr summarized the Mueller report on Sunday and said that Mueller found no evidence that Trump's campaign or his associates conspired with Russia to help him win the election.
The report offered personal vindication to Trump and a powerful new political weapon that he used to fire at his critics in the Democratic Party and the media.
"After three years of lies, smears and slander, the Russia hoax is finally dead," Trump told his supporters in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "The collusion delusion is over."
Grand Rapids is also where Trump held his final rally before his 2016 election win. Michigan was among the Rust Belt states that helped lift him to victory.
