A "king" is one of many cast in performances at the Kingdom of the Little People. The actors perform twice daily.

Askar, a tightrope walker from Xinjiang province, performs his daredevil stunt above the kingdom's main arena. He is the only performer taller than 130 centimeters (about 4 feet) and was hired due to his specific skill.

Tourists wait for the performers in the main arena. Entry costs 100 yuan ($15) per person.

Performers relax before taking to the stage. Approximately 100 people of short stature work at the kingdom.

Dancers perform at the kingdom.

Workers in the kingdom live in communal bedrooms in dormitory blocks close to the main performance arena.

The roof of one of the staff dormitory blocks serves as a kitchen and laundry area.
