Quest —
Gearing up for its fifth festival this fall, Quest is one of the longest-running live music events in Vietnam.

Quest —
In 2012, the inaugural Quest had just 250 guests. It's now 20 times that size, with an expected 5,000 guests expected to attend between November 10 and 12.

"It was a real DIY project at first," says Wellard. "We were lucky to be around at a time when Hanoi really started to open up to the outside world and the tastes of Vietnamese were opening up to different kinds of music as well."

Quest —
The festival takes place outside of Hanoi at Son Tinh Camp -- where visitors can camp overnight.

Quest —
It boasts 40 hours of non-stop music, as well as ample space for side activities such as hula hooping, swimming, and artisan workshops.

Quest —
The festival's rural setting affords the event the kind of space that music events in cities such as Tokyo and Hong Kong often lack.

Quest —
The 2017 lineup incudes UK-based ambient house pioneers The Orb, gypsy-electro-nu-rave act Slamboree Sound System, and Hanoi's own DJ Tùng Tím.
Quest —
"We had no long-term plans for this festival, we just wanted to build on that creativity and create something totally new," says Wellard.
