
The crisis in Marawi has sparked a humanitarian situation, which the local government is struggling to contain.

Almost 350,000 have fled the city and surrounding areas -- many to stay with relatives and friends outside the city, but thousands of others to the IDP camps.

Many who fled the fighting between ISIS-aligned militants and government troops left the city with only the clothes on their backs.

Around 80% of the people fleeing Marawi are Muslims. The southern island of Mindanao has a sizable Muslim population, unlike the rest of the majority-Catholic Philippines.

All the people sheltering at the camp in Barangay Maria Christina fled from Marawi in the days and weeks following ISIS militants' attack on the city.

Over 1,000 people, mainly Muslims, have made the camp in Barangay Maria Christina their temporary home.
