On May 4, 2017 in Zimbabwe, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra (right), her hand on the shoulder of an adolescent sitting beside her, listens during a meeting with adolescents living with HIV, at the AFRICAID support center in Avondale, a suburb of Harare, the capital. AFRICAID provides specialized services in support of the Government's National Action Plan for Orphans and Vulnerable Children. Interventions, led by young people living with HIV, provide HIV-positive children and other vulnerable children and their families with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to stay safe, and to cope with the associated stigma and discrimination people living with HIV and survivors of sexual violence and abuse face.

On 7 May 2017 in South Africa, (foreground) UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra plays on a swing as children watch, at the Isibindi Safe Park in Soweto Township, in the city of Johannesburg. Safe Parks established through the UNICEF-supported Isibindi project are designated community areas where Child and Youth Care Workers engage children in constructive, age-appropriate educational and recreational activities after school. The community-based program was developed by the National Association of Child Care Workers to help respond to the needs of orphans and other vulnerable children. Through the Isibindi program, local community members are trained as Child and Youth Care Workers to identify and provide support for vulnerable families to ensure that at-risk children have access to essential services. These services can include accompanying children to school, a health clinic or the hospital if needed; as well as helping children obtain important official documents, such as birth certificates; as well as government grants; psychosocial support; and counseling. Goodwill Ambassador Chopra is in the country to raise funds on behalf of vulnerable children and to visit UNICEF-supported program sites.

The entrance to a victim-friendly court during the visit to Zimbabwe of UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra. The court is part of a network of specialized courts which UNICEF supports to address the needs of all witnesses deemed as vulnerable during criminal proceedings. They provide a survivor-sensitive environment for girls and boys who are required to attend court and testify against alleged perpetrators of sexual violence.

UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra (left) speaks with Sarah Sitole, 58, (back right) who cares for her two grandchildren and who received assistance from a Community Childcare Worker in Epworth, Zimbabwe. Community Childcare Workers (CCWs) are volunteers who play a critical role by being the "eyes and ears" for social workers in communities and were set up to assist with the management of child welfare, in response to the limited number of social workers available.
