Brockovich was an environmental activist who began her famous fight against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company in 1992.

In her case against PG&E, Brockovich said the company was responsible for contaminating drinking water in Hinkley, California.

Brockovich won her lawsuit against PG&E, which is the focus of the 2000 film.

The real-life Brockovich, not pictured, made a cameo in the film as a waitress named Julia.

Aaron Eckhart played Brockovich's biker boyfriend, George.

The film was nominated for five Academy Awards, and its widespread success made Brockovich a household name.

Following her case against PG&E, Brockovich took on several other anti-pollution lawsuits.
