Andy Murray, the world No. 2, started the better in his quarterfinal against Kei Nishikori on Wednesday. He led 6-1.

But when the roof was closed in the second set, 2014 US Open finalist Nishikori found his game.

He was doing most of the dictating from the baseline. Yet he trailed 2-1 in sets.

He won the fourth after a sound that went off in the stadium affected Murray and earned the key break of the fifth at 5-5.

Nishikori prevailed 7-5 in the fifth to end his 12-match losing streak against top-two rivals.

Karolina Pliskova earlier moved into the last four in the women's draw.

Pliskova crushed Ana Konjuh 6-2 6-2 and has now won 10 straight matches.

Konjuh had upset Agnieszka Radwanska a round earlier.
