After being missing for more than 12 hours during a winter storm, Kelly Garner was rescued on January 29, 2014. Garner's neighbor found him unconscious in a 40-foot ravine.

Shattered vertebrae, broken ribs and a traumatic brain injury are some of the many injuries Garner sustained.

Garner, an avid supporter of the Crimson Tide, pictured with Bobby Humphrey, a record-setting University of Alabama running back who went on to a four-year NFL career with the Denver Broncos before retiring in 1992.

Inspired after seeing it on TV in the hospital, only 364 days after being released from the hospital, Garner completed the 2015 Mercedes Half Marathon.

Many family, friends and neighbors supported Garner on his race day. He is pictured with his son Mitchell, left and Tyler, right.

Members of Garner's surgical team were so inspired by him that they ran the full race by his side.

On the one year anniversary of his accident, Garner visited the site where it occurred.

On June 4, 2015, Garner was presented an Alabama House Resolution for being a Good Samaritan. He is pictured with Alabama Governor Robert Bentley.
