Huge storms battered the east coast of Australia on the weekend, causing widespread flooding and power outages.

Three people were confirmed dead in three separate incidents, after their cars became trapped in flood waters.

Infrastructure was destroyed and more than 86,000 people were left without power as rivers across the region burst their banks.

The storm coincided with a king tide, causing extensive erosion on Sydney's northern beaches.

A number of multi-million dollar homes on Sydney's Collaroy Beach had to be evacuated and many are now close to collapse.

Collaroy Beacch Club was among the many buildings damaged by large waves.

The storm quickly swept through a huge area of Australia's east coast, from the very north of New South Wales down through the south of the country.

The storm has now moved down through Victoria and onto Tasmania, where it is causing record flood levels.
