
North Koreans celebrate the end of the Workers' Party Congress -- the first time such an event has been held in 36 years -- with a giant parade in the capital, Pyongyang, on May 10, 2016.

More than 3,000 Workers' Party delegates gathered in Pyongyang for the Congress, with many getting up at 5 a.m. every day to prepare.

Parade participants wave bouquets of flowers and carry their country's national flag as they march with a model of the Unha space launch vehicle.

Hundreds of thousands of North Koreans celebrated the completed Workers' Party congress with a massive parade featuring floats bearing patriotic slogans and marchers with flags and pompoms.

North Koreans march with the Workers' Party symbol and the words under it which read "Long Live the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea."

During the Congress, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un assumed the title of Chairman of the Korean Workers' Party.

Kim also unveiled a five-year plan to revive the country's struggling economy.

Kim's speech included no major policy changes or economic reforms. He also called for greater development of nuclear weapons.
