Scientists and volunteers at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida tagged several pythons with a radio tracker in order to determine the location of hidden pythons.

Ian Bartoszek and a team of researchers have been tracking Burmese pythons and have captured more than one ton of pythons over the last three months.

Florida researchers found the largest male python on state record. It measured 16 feet and weighed over 140 pounds.

"We need to utilize all tools available and develop additional techniques to capture and remove Burmese pythons in Florida," said Ian Bartoszek, biologist for the Conservancy of Southwest Florida.

The use of radio telemetry to track Burmese pythons is leading researchers to more pythons and allowing them to gain a better understanding of their movement patterns.
