
CBGB in New York was considered the birthplace of punk. Photographer Rich Verdi shot a number of images inside and around the legendary nightclub in 1977 and 1978 (including this shot of Blondie lead singer Debbie Harry), and shared them with CNN iReport.

The Cramps' lead singer Lux Interior is seen performing here. He died in 2009.

This CBGB regular was only known as "Pretty Pam," shot in front of the club's graffiti-filled walls.
