Walla Walla, Washington —
The blue moon illuminated Walla Walla, Washington, Earl Blackaby said. The region has been dealing with some wildfires in the Blue Mountains, but that did not alter the color of the moon, he explained. "The moon looks gold and shines in the sky like a big lightbulb," he said.

Front Royal, Virginia —
Candice Trimble took this photo of the blue moon in Front Royal, Virginia. "I dabbled with some of the tones on my camera to capture the essence of the 'blue moon,' but not much at all, so I could stay true to the moon's beauty," she said.

Ohrid, Macedonia —
Stojan Stojanovski was near the Ohrid "St. Paul the Apostle" Airport to photograph the blue moon. "The moon was very bright," he said. He waited for planes to take off from the airport to get this long exposure shot.

Dallas —
The blue moon in Dallas was exceptionally bright when Bipin Raut got this shot. "I've seen some big looking moons over the years in Dallas and this one was as special as it could get," he said.

Hiawatha, Kansas —

Kobe, Japan —
Dennis Doucet got this striking shot of the blue moon in Kobe. The moon did not actually appear blue, however. In order to achieve this image, he edited the photo slightly in post, enhancing the moon's details and shifting the hue of the moon to match its nickname.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam —
Christa Gockel in Ho Chi Minh City was 'very surprised to see the details of the lunar landscape quite clearly, and as well how strange they look. I never realized this before.'
