Anna Jane Grossman was a journalist before deciding to pursue a long-harbored ambition to become a dog trainer. Her School for the Dogs teaches furry pupils some unusual skills, such as how to use an iPad.

Grossman's career-change was spurred by the 2008 financial crisis, when working as a freelance journalist became increasingly challenging.

The New York native says she was always happiest when around dogs, or talking about them, so decided that time was right to take the plunge and follow her passion. Seen here is Amos, the face of School for the Dogs, navigating his iPad.

Here, one of the School for the Dogs pupils shows off his skills taking a selfie. Grossman says that teaching your dog to handle an iPad uses the same building blocks as when dealing with problematic behavior such as aggression or anxiety.

It's not all vanity and selfies -- School for Dogs also encourages creativity among its canine charges, as witnessed by this iPad drawing.
