Villagers in northern Namibia celebrate the arrival of hundreds of pounds of black rhinoceros meat. Texas hunter Corey Knowlton spent the previous five days carrying out a controversial hunt.

Nearly 18 months ago, the Texas hunter bid $350,000 to kill a black rhino in the southern African country. The permit was issued by Namibia's Ministry of Environment and Tourism and auctioned by the Dallas Safari Club.

The day after the rhino was shot and killed, Knowlton and and a small group spent hours field dressing the nearly 3,000-pound rhino.

A crowd gathered when Knowlton and his professional hunting guide arrived at the spot where the village elder announced the gift.

"This whole village is going to live off this rhino meat for a while, so it means the world to me to see this right now," Knowlton said.
