Four orcas have been born in the last three months off the coast of British Columbia.

The first calf of the season was spotted in December, followed by two in February and the latest one in March.

The "baby boom" brings the total number of orcas in the area to 81.

Efforts to increase the numbers of orcas have included beefing up salmon in the area. "We hope this is a sustained upswing in the population, but they are endangered and will remain endangered until we can get their population up over 100," says Ken Balcomb with The Center for Whale Research.
