American designer Marcia Patmos (center) has won this year's International Woolmark Prize for innovative use of wool textiles. She takes home $100,000 AUD ($76,500), and will have the opportunity to be stocked in top luxury retailers around the world.

The judging panel included fashion writer Colin McDowell, Vogue China editor Angelica Cheung, Victoria Beckham, and Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani.

Patmos' muse was a fictional, globe-trotting architect. Her specially designed textiles -- some of which are sun-protective -- are meant to travel well and suit different climates.

"She has a great self-concept, and it's very sustainable," said Sozzani, who described the look as "the woman of today."
